Fun To Imagine: Seeing Things

Posted by Austin on 7:53 AM in
I'm not sure what else is left to say about Dr. Feynman, other than that I still have more clips, and he's awesome to watch.

Fun To Imagine: The Train

Posted by Austin on 7:51 AM in
It's a shame that Dr. Feynman died in '88. He would have been awesome to stick in front of a camera and give his own children's science show.

Reminder

Posted by Austin on 9:37 PM in
Veronica Mars is like the best show. I don't know why I was just thinking about that, but it really is.

P.S. Contrary to popular opinion around my house, I think we can all agree that Piz was easily a one-note character on a show filled with wonderfully rich and complex characters.

Fun To Imagine: The Mirror

Another easy explanation for something that may otherwise be a complex scientific answer. I have to wonder if more people would love science if science was easily understandable like this.

You know what it feels like?

Some have claimed that this is the worst Christmas song ever written. Not so, I contend! The worst Christmas song ever written probably never got recorded. Now if you were to say the worst Christmas song ever recorded...

Fun To Imagine: Bigger Is Electricity

Posted by Austin on 8:48 AM in
One of the better parts of this clip is when Dr. Feynman starts to draw a comparison, decides it's stupid, and moves on to something else.

Countdown To The Holidays: T-Minus 2 Days

All right, friends, it's the end of December, and you know what that means!

You know, Christmas is a time to bring things together or something. So why do we need to go either hippy rock, or hard metal? Why can't we compromise in a nice, fuzz pedal-ish way? A Hendrix way, perhaps?

Books For Christmas

Posted by Austin on 3:27 PM in
Are you curious, even a little bit, why America is quickly losing ground as an intelligent country? Let me show you a brief video and explain why.

Three things about this are awful. First, you've raised a kid who operates under the understanding that A) books are not good gifts and B) books aren't even gifts at all. Sure, it's semi-terrible, but the kid's obviously young, so it can be somewhat excused. Second, though, is that there are kids who aren't going to get anything this Christmas, and you've raised a kid who gets indignant that you bought them a book? Really? And third, you're laughing about it? Tell you what, if you've raised a kid who is upset that A) you bought them something and B) it was a book, you're probably well on track to raise a kid who thinks books are for lame homos who don't have Call Of Duty OOH RAH!

Side note, a video game console for a three year old?! Where are the action figures or science kits or toys that didn't cost hundreds of dollars?

Yesterday feels a little namby-pamby... sure, we could talk about peace and love and stuff, or we could listen to some metal and really rock out. Let's do that one -- no blogging regrets!

Fun To Imagine: Magnets

Posted by Austin on 7:34 AM in
Here's one for the Insane Clown Posse; Feynman talks about magnets, and he's not a scientist talking science at them. Pay attention, (literal) clowns.

Our next track is a pretty conventional holiday song, so I'm going to avoid using the John Lennon version and instead go with the Polyphonic Spree one.

You know, the Christmas song 'Baby It's Cold Outside' is kind of weird if you listen to the lyrics. It's a lot more date-rape-y than you'd originally believe...

One of the greatest things about Christmas is bringing people of all creeds together for some holiday cheer. In this case, the creeds are 'rock' and 'pop standards', and the people are Bowie and Crosby. It's weird, but it works.

Look, I'm sure you're tired of hearing Pokémon Christmas songs, but we still have a bunch of tracks to go! I'll take pity on you today, though, so you can listen to my old friend Andrew WK perform a beautiful rendition of Silent Night. You don't deserve this level of performance.

Countdown To The Holidays: T-Minus 11 Days

Posted by Austin on 10:38 AM in ,
All right, friends, it's mid December, and you know what that means!

It's the most wonderful time of the year, mainly because everybody typically gets some time off of work, and you get to open presents and stay at home and eat candy canes and watch old Gary Cooper movies while snuggling under blankets and stuff! If none of this applies to you, then just enjoy this whimsical countdown to the holidays!

I figure, we should celebrate it the way that we celebrate everything else on this blog: in very, very poor taste! So as your first countdown gift, enjoy this classic and obnoxious Christmas track, the Pokémon Christmas Bash!

Kinky Sex Makes The World Go 'Round

OK, I feel bad for the really bad Floyd cover I just posted. Have an awesome one performed by a drunken cantina band. The gentleman in the baseball cap thought he'd be all clever and ask the cantina band for a prog rock song... wellllll, looks like they knew it anyway.

Comfortably Dumb

Posted by Austin on 11:17 AM in
Honestly, this one sorta hurts to post. I had a hard time finishing the video, so I'm not sure why I'd think it was a good idea to make you watch it too. Highlights include the terrible guitar solo, the lead singer doing his own echo effects and British accent, and the bassist shredding towards the end. Look, I'm not a good musician, at all, but I know better than to do this.

... I have done it. The impossible dream. I have completed my National Pokédex. Please don't ask me how long it took, just marvel in the fact that I did it, no cheating, no Gamesharking, nothing. Just dedication, and a ton of trading between various generations of games.

This document certifies that you have successfully completed your National Pokedex.

Billy Joel's Greatest Hits (Simultaneously)

Posted by Austin on 11:51 AM in
If you're anything like me, you're too busy to be listening to 'music'. "Austin," you say, "I'd like to listen to the collective works of Billy Joel, but I just don't have the time". Well, me neither. Instead, someone made this soothing compilation of every Billy Joel song ever, played simultaneously. Now you can hear all those smooth piano lines and rich New York vocals without spending all day!
